Did you use a grid spot of some sort?
Because whatever you did it looks great!
No, I put my camera on a tripod w/ a shutter speed of 10 seconds (the room was completely dark). I took my flash and hit the action figure bloke on both sides, then bounced it off the ceiling (the light, not the action figure bloke), and finally lit the background. In LR, I increased contrast and desaturated all but the reds and oranges.
